The inspiration for Clipper Windpower's name comes from the majestic 19th-century Clipper ships. In the late 1840s, when American shipbuilders started to build this new kind of merchant vessel, they became known as "titans of the seas."
Technically, they were a sailing ship with three masts that could tower as high as a twenty-story building. Their enormous driving power allowed them to "clip" along at tremendous speeds that earlier generations of sailors had never dreamed of, and later generations were not able to match. Speed was very important as it brought with it the promise of great prosperity.
At Clipper, we feel that we share much in common with these incredible vessels. The skill and speed at which we can deliver renewable energy to the world brings prosperity by helping to preserve our planet for our children and future generations. At Clipper, we certainly didn't come up with the idea of generating power from the wind, neither did we invent the wind turbine, but we are paving new ground...we're making wind technology better, stronger, less risk adverse and more productive, and sharing the prospect of wind energy development with communities to encourage its quick expansion around the globe.
We've already made headway, broadening wind technology's horizons through our patented Quantum-drive powertrain which lowers the risk of unscheduled maintenance costs and, in the future, will contribute greatly to the financibility and investment in future wind projects.
We're making a difference. You can too. Join our team...Support a wind project...Conserve energy...Buy green power...Get involved...
