Lawrence D. Willey, P.E., Vice President, Operations

Lawrence was recently promoted to Vice President, Operations, where he leads nearly 85% of Clipper's employee’s and charged with the entire product delivery life-cycle including Design Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Installation, Operation, Services, and Warranty. His focus areas include operational turbine improvements/improved fleet reliability, enhanced customer order-to-remittance, lowering costs while maintaining industry leading turbine availability, continuously improving Design Engineering and Delivery Assurance operations, and providing customer service second to none. Lawrence originally joined Clipper Windpower in November 2009 as Vice President, OMS (Operation Maintenance Service) and Warranty, where he was responsible for all post-COD (Commercial Operation Date) business functions. He was promoted in July 2010 to the position of Vice President, Delivery Assurance, and added the Sourcing, Manufacturing, Tower, and Composite Technology Centers of Excellence to the OMS and Warranty functions.

Prior to joining the Clipper leadership team, Lawrence had nearly 32 years of experience working for two major corporations: General Electric Company (GE) for 20 years and United Technologies Corporation (UTC) for almost 12 years. During Lawrence’s career at GE, he held a number of increasingly senior positions in Large Steam Turbine & Generator, Power Generation Technology, and the past 7 years in Wind Energy. Some of his major leadership contributions included advanced aerodynamics development that significantly improved the industry standard efficiency for large steam turbines and the successful acquisition and integration of the former Enron Renewable Energy wind business into one of most successful new GE businesses ever. While at the Pratt and Whitney division of UTC, Lawrence led teams that established the Fluid Component Integration Laboratory and supported the development of the V2500 – one of the first major aircraft gas turbine engine collaborations in the industry.

He is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York with a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (1984). He also obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (1982) from the University of Hartford, West Hartford, Connecticut, and his Associate in Applied Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (1978) from Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, New York.
