Eric Novak, General Counsel and Secretary
Eric Novak is General Counsel and Secretary of Clipper Windpower, a position he has held since April 2010. Mr. Novak joined Clipper from United Technologies Corporation, where he was Assistant General Counsel and focused on UTC’s mergers and acquisitions activities, with a particular emphasis on international and public company transactions. While at UTC, he led legal negotiations for acquisitions of electronic security and fire suppression companies, divestitures of refrigeration and manned guarding businesses, and equity investments in renewable energy companies, including Clipper Windpower.
Prior to joining UTC in 2006, he was an Associate with the law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP. While at Simpson Thacher, he worked in the firm’s London and Los Angeles offices and advised on numerous M&A and capital markets transactions for a broad range of private equity and corporate clients. Before law school, he served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force, which he left in 1996 with the rank of Captain, and was stationed at Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota as a nuclear missile launch officer.
Mr. Novak holds a JD from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a Senior Editor of the Columbia Law Review, and a BS in Physics from the University of Miami.
