Bart Roorda,
Vice President, Composite Technology Center of Excellence
Bart Roorda serves as Vice President of Clipper Windpower’s Composite Technology Center of Excellence. He is responsible for strategy and execution in blades and other composite components. Mr. Roorda brings over 25 years experience in the design and manufacture of rotor blades and other composite components.
After joining the wind industry in 1982 at Dutch Energy Research Laboratories, Mr. Roorda co-authored the first standards for wind turbine design and qualified the first MW turbine, including the rotor blades, in Holland. Mr. Roorda subsequently joined Polymarin Composites, where he held a number of technical positions and was the driving force at Polymarin for all design and development activities and for all rotor blade activities, including set-up and management of blade production facilities in North America. Mr. Roorda served as Chief Operating Officer at Polymarin and Chief Technology Officer at Emergya Wind Technologies. In these roles, he was responsible for formulating commercial and technical strategies.
Mr. Roorda holds an Executive MBA and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Twente University in the Netherlands.
